8 electrode irrigator towed ERT streamers - Investigates paddock soil moisture profile as irrigation occurs.

  • Price: 36000.00
  • Product Code: GWI-STREAM8-IRR
  • Comms: Analogue

Having a time-lapse view of soil resistivity profiles, which indicate moisture change, around an entire paddock is of much more benefit than millimetres of sampling around capacitance probes. Using a centre pivot or lateral move irrigator as a vector for moving sensors, such profiling is practical.

Overhead irrigators are ideal platforms for repeated tomographic imaging of soils. Tomographic electrical resistivity images (ERT) can be differenced to image changes in moisture at all depths of interest in decimetre detail. With GPS integrated into an imaging system, operation can be fully autonomous with remote transmission of data. Irrigators provide moisture to break contact resistance so electrodes can operate accurately while the system is operating and infiltration is occurring.

The price given excludes installation but does include:

- one year subscription to data storage and cellualr communication.

- SchwaRTech electrical resistivity tomography system with modem.

- 16 electrode active switchbox for tomography.

- electrodes, weights, cables, and breakfree attachments to the irrigator.

- sensing of machine movement for automatically starting and stopping the monitoring.

- power supply and management.

This technology is at the interface between practical commercialization and research given the telemetered ERT electronics has just been integrated all into one system. Once used attached to one part of an irrigator, it can be move to another without much effort, but for long term time-lapse observation obviously it must remain in place.
